Strength and Range of Movement Testing

Strength and range of motion (ROM) testing are great ways to check in on overall fitness and health.

Strength testing can point out muscle imbalances or areas that need attention, which helps reduce the risk of injury in daily life and workouts. It also gives a starting point to measure progress, showing how your body responds to regular exercise and strength training over time.

ROM testing looks at how freely your joints move, helping to spot stiffness or tightness that might limit everyday activities like bending, reaching, or lifting. By tracking improvements, it ensures exercises are safe and effective while supporting better posture, flexibility, and overall movement.

When combined, strength and ROM testing give a well-rounded view of how your body is working, making it easier to stay active, prevent issues, and maintain long-term health and fitness.

For those training with specific goals - whether it’s running faster, lifting heavier, improving flexibility, or excelling in a sport - strength and ROM testing are incredibly useful, as they can pinpoint where improvements are needed, guide targeted training plans, and track progress in ways that show you’re moving closer to your goals.

They also help ensure your body has both the strength and mobility needed to perform at a higher level, all while reducing the risk of setbacks from injury.

What to expect!

During your initial consultation, I'll utilise both visual and practical musculoskeletal assessments, alongside the VALD Dynamo handheld device to measure your muscle strength and ROM in an easy and objective way.

For strength, I'll measure how much force a muscle can produce when you push or resist against the device, and for ROM, the Dynamo has a built-in sensor that measures how far a joint can move.

Once the tests are complete, we’ll go over your results together and talk about quick adjustments you can make to your fitness routine to target any weak areas.

You’ll also have the options to:

  • download the MoveHealth app to check your results anytime.

  • have me design you a personaised gym program based on your results, which will be accessible through the MoveHealth app. (This can be a one-off, or you may choose to book in a re-test date after a set period of time).  â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹
