The purpose of corrective exercise is to help people move well. No matter your age or activity level, corrective exercise is beneficial for everyone. Yes, corrective exercise can help address soreness, pain and discomfort caused by Musculo-skeletal imbalances, but it can also be used as a way of preventing imbalances developing – prehab!

Who Corrective Exercise can benefit:

  • People who lead sedentary lives due to discomfort, pain or soreness.

  • People wanting to move more or start exercising but needing guidance in developing their movement capabilities.

  • Being fit for life! People wanting to improve their muscle strength and joint function to go about their everyday lives feeling strong and pain free.

  • Those who exercise regularly but may suffer from repetitive niggles or discomfort.

  • Regular exercisers who want to improve and strengthen their movement patterns for the activities they perform.

  • High-level athletes wanting to ‘bullet-proof’ their bodies to be able to perform at their best for longer.

Corrective exercise specialists use systematic assessment processes to enable them in designing individualised programmes to support a client’s needs.

You only have to type corrective exercise into google and you will be able to read about the structure of a corrective exercise programme. You will see they are based around releasing muscle and tissue tension, stretching to develop better range of motion and mobility, and strengthening exercises to support the body in maintaining newly ‘taught’ postural alignment.
